I am pleased to offer this unique business opportunity in the heart of the Cariboo. Williams Lake Cold Storage offers the forestry / tree planting industry a tremendous service of storing frozen seedlings, then thawing and delivery them to the various locations around the province. 

A great feature of this business is it very seasonal. The seedlings arrive in October and November and are stored in the cold storage warehouse until springtime when they are thawed and delivered over a 3-month period. 

The warehouse is a refrigerated warehouse currently setup to store Seedling Trees. This space could be utilized for other storage.  It has the capacity when it comes to seedling tree box storage to store approximately 20,000 boxes/season plus slow throughs.  

The business has a signed contract with the Ministry of Forests for box storage renewable up to 2 years. This is the only length of contract offered by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Development so there is not an option for a 5-year contract etc. etc. This has been the main source of income for the business since 2001-02. As well storage of seedling trees for private individuals, local mines and local mills in Williams Lake.  

There are continuous phone calls inquiring about other services including cooler storage and household good storage, this we currently do not assist with. However, during the off season this could be something a purchaser may consider for further revenue. The warehouse in the past has been rented (for silviculture purposes) during the months that we are not utilizing the building for tree storage. 

Seedlings are received in both frozen and unfrozen states during the months of Oct-Jan. These boxes of trees are slowly frozen with temperature and quality control management for the clients. The trees remain in this frozen dormant state until the spring when they then thaw them for delivery to the forest / tree planters.  

The company owns refrigerated trailers and tandem axle tractor trucks that are utilized to haul the 53' and 48' trailers rented by contractors to their various planting locations in the bush. Planting companies rent these trailers and hire them to do their trucking. Each year they must turn down work in this regard as they do not have the room to store many more trailers
